Each month, will we will highlighting the members that make up each Junior League Council. This August, we’re featuring the members of the Administrative Council.

Erin Clements, Administrative Vice President

How long have you been a member of the Junior League? This is my 5th year active.

What has been your favorite placement? My first year active, I was double placed on Scavenger Haunt and Special Events. I really enjoy event planning so being able to help organize events like Brews & Beads as well as helping with all the “behind the scenes” parts of Scavenger Haunt was a lot of fun. I also enjoyed serving as the Placement Chair, it was a lot of work but, I learned so much about the League during the placement period.

What activities, hobbies have kept you busy since quarantine? As a high school teacher, I am usually off during the summer and spend the time traveling. Unfortunately, that has not been a possibility this summer so, I have been working on modifying my lessons to prepare for an online start to the school year, helping set up our new JL headquarters and training for a new volunteer position with the National Panhellenic Conference where ill be serving as an Alumnae Panhellenic Coordinator.

What is your favorite non-profit organization outside of Junior League and why? I am very involved with my sorority and I give a good amount of my time and money to our non-profit, Phi Mu Foundation. They give thousands of dollars worth of scholarships every year. I was able to serve on the scholarship committee for three years and review applications. As a teacher, I value education and I am very proud of what these young women accomplish. The Foundation also funds training for our members as well as supports members in need who apply for financial help.

Another non-profit I love is Animal Resources of Tidewater which was founded by a JLNVB Sustainer. I am a member of ART and work with them on organizing fundraising opportunities. ART provides resources to help owners pay for medical care for their pets as well as providing free and low-cost spay and neuter services. They also advocate for lifesaving programs and policies.

Sara Wong, Assistant Administrative VP

How long have you been a member of the Junior League? This is my 4th year active.

What has been your favorite placement? So far, my favorite placement has been on the PAC committee.

What activities, hobbies have kept you busy since quarantine? During the pandemic, I have stayed busy watching Netflix and taking walks around my neighborhood with my husband.

What is your favorite non-profit organization outside of Junior League and why? My favorite non-profit outside of JL is probably CHKD’s Milk Bank. I love what they are able to provide for the sweet little ones in the NICU.

Anne Kelly, Digital Cheetah Administrator

How long have you been a member of the Junior League? This is my 2nd year active.

What has been your favorite placement? My one and only, Digital Cheetah Chair.

What activities, hobbies have kept you busy since quarantine? My work day as a physical therapist hasn’t slowed down much since the onset of COVID. I have definitely needed outlets to unwind. Beyond streaming some great reality TV series on Netflix, I have been trying to read more and have been stepping outside my comfort zone with workouts. I am in the last week of The Work with Beachbody on Demand and loving it!

What is your favorite non-profit organization outside of Junior League and why? The American Red Cross. My blood type is O+, which is a high demand blood type. I feel like it is my very small contribution to humanity to donate as often as I am able in order to help another person in a medical emergency.

Katy Carlsward, Digital Cheetah Administrator Elect

How long have you been a member of the Junior League? This is my 3rd year active.

What has been your favorite placement? The AT&T Committee in Monterey County

What activities, hobbies have kept you busy since quarantine? Lots of reading, working out and enjoying the sunshine with my family.

What is your favorite non-profit organization outside of Junior League and why? The Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society, not only does the organization help service members and their families in times of financial need but, it provides non-financial assistance and education to help clients understand and improve their finances.
