On September 12^th, 2020, the Junior League of Norfolk-Virginia Beach officially welcomed 31 wonderful new members at our headquarters in Virginia Beach!

With the pandemic, the League held several recruitment events in-person and virtually to give prospective members a glimpse of what the League is and what it does for the community in South Hampton Roads.

Typically, the League holds a 4-hour retreat for new members, which provides a chance for them connect with their class and their mentors. It’s also an opportunity to meet leadership and sign up to lead various projects and events. However, the current circumstances led the New Member team to think outside the box and plan an event that adhered to CDC and state guidelines.

The retreat became a drive-thru welcome and was a huge success! Several new members showed up and were welcomed by various members outside. They received their headshots for Digital Cheetah and their goodies: their JLNVB binder, cookie, bookmark with advice from last year’s new member class, and t-shirt.

We were thrilled to see some little Leaguers as well, and ones on the way. The excitement from the new members was contagious. New Members were also given the opportunity to donate canned food for the FoodBank of Southeastern Virginia—thank you to those that donated!

The COVID Class of JLNVB will certainly make history in our League. We are proud and excited for each and every one of you!
