The Placement Committee
What does a Placement Advisor do? Every active member of the JLNVB has a Placement Advisor. Their primary function is to serve as a member’s liaison for any League related issue. Need an introduction to other JLNVB members? Placement Advisors are in contact with many members; ask them to introduce you. Have a question about how the organization “works?” Ask your Advisor to explain the JLNVB structure. If you have a fabulous idea – for a fundraiser, signature issue, social event, etc. – your Advisor is the person to help you navigate the channels to have your idea presented. If you require any type of status change, your Advisor is the person to help you determine the appropriate status and to guide you through the process. (Status levels: Active, Active-Gold, Transfer In, Leave of Absence, Non-Resident Active, Transfer Out, Sustainer)If you are having any issues within the JLNVB – difficulty meeting obligations, placement concerns, etc. – your Advisor is there to help you find a resolution. Your Placement Advisor is your first line of communication with the JLNVB. In addition to helping their Advisees address their League issues and questions, Placement Advisors are crucial in setting a stage that will allow members have satisfactory and gratifying League experiences. They serve as mentors to their Advisees. Placement Advisors monitor their Advisee’s progress throughout the year to make certain they are fulfilling their JLNVB obligations. And, they work with their Advisees to help find all the available alternatives for meeting League requirements, thus ensuring those obligations can be fulfilled. Placement Advisors also help match members with placements through League career guidance, which will advance the member’s JLNVB goals. Advisors conduct interviews with their advisees that help the Placement and Nominating committees understand the work a member has done during their League career (both in the JLNVB and in other Leagues), a member’s professional work and training, and the League goals of the member. All of duties of the Placement Advisor serve the purpose of making certain that the JLNVB has a robust, energetic, and excited membership. Throughout the year, you should periodically hear from your Placement Advisor. And, you should always feel free to contact your Placement Advisor with League related questions, concerns, and brilliant, new ideas. Be sure to look for Placement Committee members at each GMM and let us know what we can do for you!

Members Doing More
We have a number of members this year who are going above and beyond by taking on leadership roles in our League. The Placement Committee would like to thank all of those members who have agreed to accept double placements (and even triple placements) and the Sustainers have accepted placements as Sustaining Advisors and/or Active placements for this year.

Our members provide the energy and vitality that make the JLNVB a dynamic organization with profound community impact. The JLNVB consistently strives to operate in such a way that allows us to work toward meeting the goals laid out in our Mission and Vision statements. Each Council, each Committee, and each Position is an important component in the organization. Our membership, with their desire to give to the community, readily accepts the many challenges faced in running this well-respected organization. JLNVB members are leaders within our communities and they readily accept the leadership roles with which they are presented, both large and small. Leadership within the Junior League can take on many manifestations. It may come in the form of serving on the Board of Directors, accepting a Chair position, making a presentation to other community organizations, heading up a special project, accepting double placements, accepting an Active placement as a Sustainer, or one of the numerous other opportunities that present themselves during the course of the year. The one thing that all of these leadership opportunities have in common is the willingness of JLNVB members to step in and accept the challenge. Few other organizations can boast this degree of commitment and enthusiasm among its members and we thank you all.
