The Finance Council is one of the most exciting councils in the JLNVB. Our Finance Council performs the fundraising tasks that help to ensure that we can continue to achieve our mission. They meet our annual fundraising goals through the Themed Party, Cookbook, Ways & Means, the Shopping Event, and FestEvents committees. What’s more, the Fund Development Committee is continuously working to increase both our Annual Fund and our Endowment Fund. In addition to raising funds, the Finance Council members oversee JLNVB funding for other programs, obtaining grants for JLNVB supported programs, and they serve as our organization’s financial managers. They manage all aspects of our financial business from standard bill paying and checking management to annual taxes and investment plans. And, on top of all this, being a part of the Finance Council affords you one of the best opportunities to meet people in the JLNVB. Numbers, Numbers, Numbers!
We are entrenched in NUMBERS! Give, show, compute, enter and analyze the NUMBERS…it’s absolutely maddening!
I can’t tell you how many passwords I have and “it has to include a number” and between you and me, I’m beginning to hate using my age as that ‘magic number.’ Let’s be honest – no one over 40 thinks ‘it’s a magic number’ but how else can we remember it!
So it pains me to have to write an article about numbers. But, it will be quick. It will be painless. It will be…important.
85 – The JLNVB will be 85 years old this year and in recognition of this milestone, we are asking 85 contributors to step forward with an $85 donation in an effort to secure the future of The Junior League of Norfolk-Virginia Beach, Inc. This Annual Fund will provide monetary support for our organization and will help to offset operational costs allowing more money to be given to the community.
These 85 contributors will be honored and recognized throughout our anniversary year and at The JLNVB annual May dinner.
50/50 - or 1 depending how good you are at math… RAFFLE! Could you use a little extra cash around Christmas this year? Endowment will be sponsoring several raffles at GMM’s and a drawing will be held in November and the lucky winner will take home ½ the cash!
