First, please download and review the Provisional Member Obligations, which explains what you'll be doing during your first year with us.

, fill out an Application for Provisional Membership.
Third,
attend the next New Member Information Social, Sunday May 24th at 4:30pm. You will also have the opportunity to submit your application at the social and ask current members about their experience with the League.

What is the Junior League?

Founded in 1925, the Junior League of Norfolk-Virginia Beach, Inc. (JLNVB) is a charitable nonprofit organization of women civic leaders positively impacting South Hampton Roads.  We are part of The Association of Junior Leagues International (AJLI), which is made up of 293 Junior Leagues throughout Canada, Mexico, the UK, and the USA.  Together, we constitute one of the largest, most effective volunteer organizations in the world.

Who are the members of the Junior League?
The Junior League of Norfolk-Virginia Beach, Inc. reaches out to women of all races, ages, and religious and national origins who demonstrate an interest in and commitment to voluntarism.

What are the benefits of membership?
The Junior League of Norfolk-Virginia Beach, Inc. empowers women through leadership training and development to take effective action in their communities.

Membership commitments:
Below are the Provisional (new member) commitments. (Please see 2010-2011 Provisional Membership Obligations for more specific requirements.)

  1. Pay Provisional Dues ($115) and the Provisional Course Fee ($35)
  2. Complete Provisional Course (includes all day retreat in the summer of 2010 and approximately two meetings per month running from September through May)
  3. Attend a Provisional welcome party
  4. Complete a Done In A Day (DIAD) Project
  5. Observe one Board of Directors or JLNVB Council meeting
  6. Complete the minimum set of hours of service to JLNVB’s Signature Issue (2010-2011 Signature is Healthy Kids Initiative)
  7. Participate and meet financial requirements for all Junior League fundraisers
  8. Complete any additional requirements set forth at the beginning of the Provisional Course

If you are interested in joining the Junior League of Norfolk-Virginia Beach, Inc., you must submit the JLNVB Application form along with a letter stating your commitment to voluntarism and community service by August 1, 2010 to:
